Dear <<Name>>,

On Saturday, September 13th, I will be taking part in the 2003 Team With A Vision 5K Run & Walk at Artesani Park in Brighton. I have the opportunity of not only acting as Honorary Chair supporting this wonderful cause, but I will be running as a guide for a visually impaired athlete along the Charles River. I would like to invite <<company>> to join me in supporting this wonderful cause by becoming the event's <<$25,000 Platinum Sponsor>>. Partnering with the Team is an innovative way for <<company>> to gain broad visibility and exposure, while helping us educate our community about the capabilities of people who are blind or visually impaired, and the services available to them.

This year the Massachusetts Association for the Blind is joining with The Carroll Center for the Blind, Foundation Fighting Blindness, Greater Boston Aid to the Blind, National Braille Press, New England Eye Institute, Perkins School for the Blind and Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic to significantly expand the event. This level of collaboration is unprecedented in the Boston blindness community, and a great deal of work must be accomplished if this joint Run & Walk is to be a success. Our goal is to raise more than $200,000 for technology, adaptive equipment, literacy programs and services that enhance the quality of life of thousands of blind and visually impaired individuals.

Vision loss is universal-it can happen to anyone. There are more than 150,000 people in Massachusetts affected by severe vision loss. They are students and employees, friends and neighbors, children, parents, and grandparents. Many of these individuals rely on innovative technology and specialized services offered by local nonprofit organizations to conduct everyday activities such as reading a newspaper, going to the grocery store, studying for a test or accessing the Internet. There is a tremendous need for new adaptive technology, access to information, education and employment, expanded support services, elder rehabilitation, and research to prevent blindness and develop new treatments for eye conditions.

We sincerely hope that <<company>> will become the <<Platinum Sponsor>> and join the 2003 Team With A Vision. Proceeds from the event will benefit eight organizations working together to build services and programs that help people with vision loss break down the barriers they face in their everyday lives. Enclosed you will find information about each organization, and about our sponsorship opportunities.

I am honored to spearhead this event and to maximize the enormous potential it has to benefit the community. I look forward to running or walking with you on September 13th! If you have any questions, please contact Joseph Quintanilla, TWAV Event Coordinator, at (617) 732-0241.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hughes
