Dear (Business Owner):
We are your neighbors and Boca Raton's best kept secret! We need your
help to spread the word about our important mission and the work we do
locally to improve the lives of students in need.
Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D), a nonprofit volunteer
organization, is the nation's educational library serving people who cannot
effectively read standard print because of visual impairment, learning
disability or other physical disability. With the help of our community
and our trained, dedicated volunteers, we improve lives one page at a
time. RFB&D is a registered 501(c)(3), tax- deductible, charity which
relies on public and private funding sources such as donations, grants,
bequests and fund raising events to continue our important work.
At our newest studio, located on the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic
University, we rely heavily on our volunteers to record the books so needed
by the students that we serve. Our studio operates with minimal staff
-only 3 paid employees. Our volunteers read/record the textbooks needed
to further the education of students in grades pre-k through graduate
school.
To inspire interest in our organization and to help support the needs
of Palm Beach County students and the Boca Raton recording studio, we
will be hosting a RECORD-A-THON from Friday evening, January 30, 2009
through Sunday, February 1, 2009. We are inviting you and your friends
to participate as "Guest Readers." Here's how it will work:
Well in advance of the RECORD-A-THON, people interested in being Guest
Readers will call our office and schedule themselves for a ½ hour
or a 1 hour reading/recording session. Readers can select any available
slot on Friday, between 6-8 PM; Saturday, between 9 AM-8 PM and/or Sunday,
between 10 AM-2 PM. Guest Readers will be supplied with pledge sheets
to request support from family and friends. On the day of the event, our
guest readers will be paired with one of our regular volunteers who will
guide them through the recording process.
(Business,) we really need your help! Please encourage your employees
and friends to participate in this important event. Event sponsorship
opportunities are also available. If you have any questions, please feel
free to call: 561-297-4443.
Thank you for kindly considering this request.
