RFB&D is the only agency in the state of Florida focused exclusively on the educational needs of students with certified print disabilities. The focus of the Learning through Listening (LTL) program is on school rather than individual memberships; this is how most students with print disabilities access RFB&D. By partnering with schools and districts, the Florida Unit reaches a maximum number of students, providing them with the means to achieve academic success. We also assist schools in fulfilling their legal obligation to provide accommodations to students with print disabilities.

The LTL program offers an unduplicated solution, by coupling adaptive technology with the related support. The LTL program incorporates educational outreach coordinators who visit schools, give orientations to students, educators and parents, help schools and individual students access the materials in our national library, and provide training in the use of our specialized digital equipment. The coordinators are available for ongoing support for students, their families and their teachers. Last year, the educational outreach department trained 4,197 educators, signed up 134 new schools state-wide and provided training for 1,719 parents and students. We are currently providing services to students and schools in all 67 Florida Counties.
