Additional media inquiries: VISION IMPAIRED STUDENTS TO VISIT THE VOLUNTEERS THAT RECORD THEIR TEXTBOOKSStudents Want to say "Thanks"Reseda, CA, January 21, 2002 - The students in Keith Christian vision impaired classes at Nobel Middle School in Northridge will be making a special field trip this Thursday, 1/24/02 at 9 am. They will visit the Reseda studio of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-Los Angeles Unit to see how the volunteers actually record their digital audio textbooks. The students will also try their hand at recording in the booths, and will be on hand to say "thank you" to the volunteers who help them compete equally in school.
Teacher Christian is legally blind himself and thus has extra
insight to offer the students. The kids in Christian's classes
are taking part in a national survey to test and then rate RFB&D's
new digital audio equipment. RFB&D-LA Educational Outreach
Director Stacey Eubank will be on hand to help guide the students
as will Reseda Studio Director Becky Christiansen. Christiansen
says her volunteers are looking forward to meeting the students
who's textbooks they regularly record so they can find out first
hand what they think of their work. # # # |
