TOYOTA MOTOR SALES GENEROUSLY SUPPORTS COMMUNITY

Gives Grant to Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California, December 13, 2001 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-Los Angeles Unit (RFB&D-LA) is proud to announce today that Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A has contributed $5,000 in support of RFB&D-LA's Adopt-A-Text Program. This program underwrites the production of audio textbooks for print-disabled students. RFB&D-LA's Executive Director Carol Smith said, "We are grateful for Toyota's assistance in our mission to give all students equal access to the printed page."

For over 50 years, RFB&D has recorded textbooks on tape-and now computer-for Kindergartners through post-graduates and professionals who have a physical, perceptual or vision disability. The Los Angeles Unit of RFB&D has three recording studios located in Hollywood, El Segundo and Reseda.

The Toyota USA Foundation funding is earmarked for pre-collegiate education programs with an emphasis on improving the teaching and learning of mathematics and science. Thus Toyota's gift to RFB&D-LA will specifically be used to fund the production of math and science audiobooks for students in grades K-12. Executive Director Smith summed it up by remarking, "Toyota Motor Sales has been a long-time supporter of our programs and services. This type of financial assistance is vital to our organization's efforts."
