Joins Board of Directors of
RECORDING FOR THE BLIND & DYSLEXIC-LA

Los Angeles, California, November 15, 2006 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -

Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-Los Angeles (RFB&D-LA) is proud to announce that Alvaro Cortés, Assistant Superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District's Beyond the Bell Branch program, has joined their board of directors. He has been a Director of School Services of elementary schools, a Grant Facilitator of the Annenberg Extended Grant program and a Principal of Oxnard Street School and Chandler Elementary School. Cortés was also appointed in August to the 13-member Advisory Committee in Sacramento on Before and After School Programs.

RFB&D is a nonprofit organization that has a national library of more than 109,000 audio textbooks for students with vision impairment, physical disabilities or learning disabilities. RFB&D-LA serves more than 2,900 students in the Los Angeles area. The organization's membership is comprised of students in kindergarten through graduate school, as well as working professionals who find it difficult-or impossible-to read printed material. The Los Angeles Unit of RFB&D has three local recording studios located in Reseda, Redondo Beach and Hollywood where volunteers record the textbooks and other educational materials.
