KTLA-TV'S MICHAELA PEREIRA TO EMCEE RFB&D-LA'S FUNDRAISER

Nonprofit Honored to have Prominent Anchor as their Mistress of Ceremonies

Los Angeles, California, November 8, 2007 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-LA (RFB&D-LA) is proud to announce that KTLA-TV's own Michaela Pereira is the Mistress of Ceremonies at RFB&D-LA's "Spirit of Invention" Luncheon today, Thursday November 8, 2007 at 12:00 noon at The New Otani Hotel and Garden, 120 South Los Angeles Street, Los Angeles, California. Pereira has been volunteering for RFB&D-LA on an as-need basis since she first began anchoring at KTLA. The fundraising event is free to the public. Seating is limited, reservations required. The program is exactly one hour.

The speakers for the event are Kevin Scanlon, a molecular pharmacologist and Pasadena dad whose daughter has dyslexia and has excelled by using RFB&D's services; and Monica Augustyn, a scholar attending Loyola Marymount University, who is learning disabled, and has also soared academically by using RFB&D's audio textbooks. The event will help support RFB&D-LA's vital programs and services. To make a reservation or for more information, call Michele at 323-664-5525 x106, or visit the website at www.rfbdla.org.

RFB&D is a unique national nonprofit organization that, for nearly 60 years, has been recording audio textbooks for students of all ages with vision, physical and learning disabilities. RFB&D's membership is comprised of students in kindergarten through graduate school, as well as working professionals who find it difficult-or impossible-to read printed material. RFB&D-LA serves approximately 3,500 students with print disabilities in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
