Additional media inquiries: BLIND COLLEGE STUDENT GIVES BACKVolunteers for Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-LAReseda, California, February 15, 2006 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -Paul Rivetti, who is blind, is in his senior year at Cal State Northridge as a History major. Rivetti is a Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) "student member" who uses their audio textbooks on CD in his school studies. Rivetti is also an integral member of the RFB&D-LA family in another way; he is a volunteer at RFB&D-LA's Reseda recording studio, where he helps produce the product he eventually uses. Paul comes in to volunteer once a week and quality checks digital audio files before they are sent to RFB&D national headquarters for conversion to CD format and then placed in their national library of 104,000 audio textbooks. Rivetti has been volunteering at the Reseda studio since December 2003 and has 120 hours of volunteering already under his belt. Reseda Studio Production Supervisor Joel Mankey says, "Paul is a role model volunteer. Besides being an all-around nice person, he's extremely responsible and reliable; and his memory is acute. He is a priceless resource for us to determine first hand how we can produce a better product for our students nationwide." For 55 years, RFB&D has been an invaluable educational resource, enabling individuals with vision, physical and learning disabilities to complete their educations, advance their careers, and gain self-esteem. RFB&D-LA is in need of volunteers (college-educated or high-achieving teens preferred) to record audio textbooks for students with vision, physical or learning disabilities. To schedule an orientation tour, call RFB&D-LA at 800 732-TEXT and/or visit their website at www.rfbd.org/LA. The next tours are scheduled for 2/25/06 at 10:00 a.m., 3/15/06 at 6:00 p.m. and 3/25/06 at 10:00 a.m.
RFB&D-LA's recording studio locations are in Hollywood, Reseda
and Redondo Beach. All aspects of producing audio textbooks are
included in the training. Volunteers are asked to commit two hours
per week to the nonprofit organization. Studios are open days,
some evenings and Saturdays. MEDIA CONTACT: Diane
