HONORED WITH VISION AWARD FROM THE LEAGUE OF AMERICAN COMMUNICATIONS
PROFESSIONALS
RFB&D's 2006 Annual
Report captures LACP's coveted Bronze Award
August 9, 2007 (Princeton, NJ)
- Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic®(RFB&D®)
has been honored with a prestigious Bronze Award from the League
of American Communications Professionals' (LACP) Vision Awards,
their highly competitive Annual Report competition. The award
was given in recognition of RFB&D's 2006 Annual Report.
RFB&D is the nation's educational library serving people
who cannot effectively read standard print because of visual impairment,
dyslexia, or other physical disability.
"This year's annual report for RFB&D
proves to be remarkable in light of tremendous competition,"
said Christine Kennedy, LACP Managing Director. "The level
of creativity exhibited in the report is excellent, which is
supported by superb clarity in communicating this year's
key messages."
RFB&D's 2006 Annual Report, Our Year in Review, scored 91 out of a possible 98 points awarded in the competition,
with judging in the areas of first impression, report cover,
letter to shareholders and report narrative. Among nonprofit
organizations, RFB&D finished fourth in a field of more
than 100 submissions. "I really like the 'family album'
feel to the book - it really bolsters the sense that RFB&D
is a family of passionate, like-minded individuals focused on
the same goals," said one judge. Other comments included,
"strong messaging" and "informative and entertaining."
"By replicating the look and feel of an old-fashioned family
photo album for our Annual Report, we expressed the familial nature
of RFB&D," said Paula Whitcomb, RFB&D's Strategic
Communications Editor. "Our members, staff, volunteers, board
members and community of educators work together as one organization
to help students with print disabilities. We are honored that
the LACP recognized not only our concept, but the message it conveyed
- the RFB&D family."
