Philadelphia Unit Celebrates 20th Anniversary

The Philadelphia Unit - Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic celebrates its 20th anniversary in FY 08-09 with a series of events. The Annual Report in October featured several historic overview of the unit's beginnings. The crown lights atop the Philadelphia PECO Tower saluted the national organization's anniversary in early November. (See the photograph on this page.) On that same week-end, the unit's founders were feted at a reception at the Hill at Whitemarsh in Lafayette Hill (a Philadelphia suburb). RFB&D members Timmy Kelly, a high school freshman from Huntingdon Valley (PA) and Colette Leilani Young, a college sophomore from Bethesda (MD), entertained guests with their beautiful singing voices.

Volunteer Gretchen Hall Marks 20th Year with RFB&D

Gretchen Hall, a twenty year volunteer at the Philadelphia Unit celebrated her RFB&D anniversary in August 2008 with a party in the King of Prussia studio. The volunteer hours of Dr. Hall, a chemist, are matched by her former employer ExxonMobil.

RFB&D Recording Books Changing Lives Since 1948

As the Philadelphia Unit celebrated its 20th anniversary, the unit recognized the RFB&D 60th birthday with a message on top of the PECO Tower in Philadelphia in November 2008:
"RFB&D Recording Books Changing Lives Since 1948."
