We
wanted to inform you of a great resource you may not know about. We were alerted
of the website:
www.donorschoose.org
which allows teachers to post requests for funding for classroom needs or projects
and donors to contribute online. The typical request ranges from $100-$300.
The way it works is very simple:
- Log on to www.donorschoose.org
and post your request.
- Potential Donors will log on and contribute to projects that align with
their interests. It will monitor all donations to your project and let you
know of the progress.
- Once fulfilled, you can implement the project and have the students thank
the donors with thank you cards/pictures/etc.
A DonorsChoose.org account will enable you to seek funding for student materials
or experiences.
DonorsChoose.org protects the identity of the teacher, school and classroom
making the request.
We hope that you will find this resource helpful. As a teacher of students
with special needs, we know that you may wish to request RFB&D equipment,
headphones, MP3 players, or other such items that make the service more accessible
to your students. We provided request templates below to make it easier for
you to request any RFB&D support you may need.
