There are many volunteer opportunities and we welcome your help!!
Host an RFB&D Learning Through Listening Hour
in your community or in your office
One merely invites neighbors, co workers, church friends, any group of friends
and business associates to learn more about the RFB&D mission and the
need to open doors in their community to support the students in their community
who are living with a print disability. This can be held in a local library,
church parlor, meeting room, office or in your home. All you will need to
serve is something to sip on (soda or water). We have more than 55,200 students
in SC who are in desperate need of the tools that support their learning
style and I'd love your help in spreading the word by hosting an LTL Hour.
Contact local clubs to book an RFB&D presentation
I'd love your help in contacting local civic clubs to book RFB&D as
a speaker/presenter. Do you know anyone who is a member of a Sertoma Club,
Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Rotary Clubs or Garden Club? Many church circles
and other civic groups are looking for monthly speakers too. Perhaps you
know people who are members of these clubs or perhaps you are a member of
one of these types of clubs or groups. Could you help in your community
by opening the door for RFB&D to be a presenter?
Become an Outreach Volunteer
Educational Outreach opportunities include assisting at Parent Nights, working
at conferences, phone calling campaigns, posting flyers in the community,
and preparing training packets to be passed on to members and potential
members. CONTACT: Jeanette Lystlund, Regional Membership Services Director,

Plan a special event in your community to not only
build awareness but perhaps raise funds to provide RFB&D memberships
to those in need living in your community
We did this in Columbia in October and raised close to $500. The awareness
factor was huge and consequently we have received many calls from interested
parents.
Be an RFB&D writer
We are always looking for people who are great writers to interview members
and then write articles or help them write a testimonial to submit to local
papers and magazines.
Help to open doors in your community by introducing
us to people who have a corporate community mission to support those living
with a print disability or education initiatives
We are looking for businesses and individuals to provide funding to support
the mission of RFB&D or to adopt-a-text. Adopting a Text is a great
opportunity for local Sunday School Classes or businesses that are looking
to give a gift during the holidays.
Does your company, club or organization need to
have their printed materials in an accessible format to meet ADA laws?
Printed materials will be accessible to an important market segment and
employees. It is estimated that over 5 million Americans have visual impairments
and that 1 out of 5 Americans has a learning disability. Through RFB&D's
Custom Recording Service, businesses will fulfill their legal requirements
under the Americans with Disabilities Act to provide accommodations for
people who cannot read standard print. We can record annual reports, brochures,
newsletters, client materials, proposals, and employee manuals. Our rates
are competitive and RFB&D will use the revenue to support production
of student textbooks for our members. If you would like to spread the word,
we can provide you with our custom recording brochures.
