The unit is located one half mile north of Long Lake Road (18 Mile), on the east side of the street.

Hours of Operation:
Monday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Michigan Unit was formed in 1958 and originally was located at Wayne State University. In 1991, the studio moved to a larger location in Troy to accommodate readers from both Wayne State and Oakland Universities. The unit has nine recording booths and 165 volunteers.

Volunteer Information:
Volunteers are needed for the following jobs: readers, directors, production quality checkers, outreach and administrative support.

Readers are needed in the following areas: general reading (non-technical material), mathematics, sciences, medicine, engineering and computer science.

Educational Outreach:
The
Michigan Unit serves over 200 local schools with visits/training sessions. The unit's outreach volunteer offers students and their parents training sessions at the studio by appointment.


Family Member Committee:
Offers assistance to all members and their families.
