Notes:

You must have a previously registered version of Victor Reader Soft on your PC prior to installing the free upgrade.

You must have Winzip utility to extract the files.

Victor Reader Soft 2.0 will not run on Windows 9.x or Windows ME.

What's New for Victor Reader Soft for Windows XP and Windows 2000

Version 2.0 includes the following features:

  1. New User Interface

    • For mouse users there is a new optional command tool bar with icons for bookshelf, set bookmark, previous/next bookmark, set text note, previous/next text note, Goto Page, and FIND command. It includes icon tool tips.

    • Also for mouse users, a new optional graphical navigation bar provides four clickable navigation arrows, volume/speed slide-bars, Fast forward/Rewind buttons, Play/Stop button, and a graphical progress bar for book position.

    • For blind or low vision users, the extensive menu and keyboard shortcuts of previous versions remain to provide quick command entry and easy book navigation.

    • Improved text navigation lets you move easily back and forth between a Global Navigation Tree and its synchronized text display window.

    • More display preferences for fonts, font sizes, font styles, and colors.
    • User control of Global Navigation, Text Display, and Information window sizes.

  2. Rotate among three Playback Navigation Modes:

    • DAISY style navigation of recorded audio
    • DAISY style navigation of text using built-in text-to-speech
    • Windows style (word processor) navigation of text using built-in text-to-speech
    • For keyboard users, the Z key can be used to toggle between these modes.

  3. Text Note Enhancements

    • Optional text note label to identify the note and its relation to the book passage
    • Ability to browse the list of text note labels
    • Ability to export an outline form of text notes to an external text or XML file

Note for Screen Reader users:

Victor Reader Soft 2.0 is a self voicing application so the software behavior may be unpredictable when used with a screen reader. The built-in text-to-speech is compliant with SAPI 5 text to speech engines.

Instructions for Updating Vibe to Version 1.3.1R

  1. Power on the Vibe
  2. Insert the CD, the update will start automatically
  3. Once upgrade is complete, power off the unit; then power back on
  4. Will announce Upgrade Version 1.3.1R
