MACROMEDIA GIFT ASSISTS

Princeton, NJ (May 3, 2002) - Recording for
the Blind & Dyslexic® (RFB&D) today announced the receipt of a
software donation from Macromedia, Inc. - including Macromedia
Dreamweaver, Fireworks, ColdFusion Studio and Authorware - which
will enable the nonprofit organization to continue to enhance
its fully accessible website at www.rfbd.org.
In January
2001, RFB&D launched the first phase of a multi-year revitalization
of its website to make information about the organization and
its services more accessible to its members. "Our priority is
not only to make www.rfbd.org accessible for people with disabilities,
but accessible on a number of levels. We need sophisticated web
design software to balance the needs of visitors with visual impairments
whose screen readers and adaptive technologies can only navigate
by text, as well as visitors with learning disabilities who cannot
process a text-heavy page," explained Morgan Roth, vice president
for public affairs and a member of RFB&D's web design team. "Macromedia's
design, development and content delivery software enables us to
maintain and enhance a site that is accessible and engaging to
all of our visitors. We're grateful for this gift that will help
us continue to build the site and its functionality for people
with print disabilities," continued Roth.
Macromedia (www.macromedia.com)
delivers market-leading software that empowers millions of designers
and developers to create the most effective user experiences across
the widest array of platforms and devices. Macromedia fully supports
the creation of great web experiences for everyone. Information
on Macromedia accessibility initiatives can be found at http://www.macromedia.com/macromedia/accessibility/.
