RECORDING FOR THE BLIND &
DYSLEXIC ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS
January 10, 2005 (Princeton,
NJ) - Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D)
President & CEO John Kelly announced promotions as well as
reorganization of the management team at the nonprofit organization's
national headquarters in Princeton, NJ. RFB&D is the nation's
educational library of recorded textbooks for students with visual
impairment, dyslexia or other physical disabilities that make
reading standard textbooks difficult or impossible.
"The changes
will strengthen our organization and allow RFB&D to implement
its strategic plan for growth," said Kelly. "Our experienced
and dedicated team will also help bring our headquarters and field
management closer together in planning and coordinating organization-wide
activities, including budget planning."
Vernon
A. Bramble, CAE, of Newtown, PA, was promoted from executive vice
president of operations, finance & administration to executive
vice president for unit administration, finance & IT. Prior
to joining RFB&D, Bramble had served as chief financial officer
of the New York Academy of Sciences since 1988.
Bramble earned an MBA in corporate
finance from Pace University, a BS degree in accounting from the
College of Staten Island and a certificate in financial planning
from Adelphia University. He is the president of Newtown Ridge
Estates Homeowners Association, treasurer for the Huntington Valley
Christian Academy and a member of the National Resource Development
Committee of NABA, Inc., the board of trustees for the Bucks County
SDA Church, the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce and the
Princeton Rotary Club.
Peter
T. Smith, of Princeton, NJ, formerly vice president of marketing,
was promoted to senior vice president for programs & services.
Smith joined RFB&D in 1995 after three decades in international
marketing management with Proctor & Gamble, McCann Erickson,
Johnson & Johnson and Intercontinental Hotels, among others.
Smith earned a BS in journalism
from Northwestern University and has volunteered with the Princeton
Blairstown Center and Trinity Church.
Robert Rao,
of San Francisco, CA, was promoted to the newly-created position
of assistant to the president for strategic initiatives. Rao joined
RFB&D in 1994 after seven years at the management consulting
firm The Pacesetter Group. He received a bachelor's degree in
marketing from The College of New Jersey.
Jacqueline D.
McLeod, of Teaneck, NJ, joined RFB&D as senior vice president
for financial development in May 2004. Before RFB&D, McLeod
held senior fundraising positions at A Better Chance and the American
Lung Association. She holds a master's degree in public health
from Columbia University's School of Public Health, and a master's
in health education from Columbia University's Teachers College.
She earned a BS in nursing education from New York University.
RFB&D also
announced the creation of a strategic communications department,
to direct the organization's expanding communications, public
relations, media relations, publications and e-communications
services. Morgan Roth, of Montgomery Twp., NJ, formerly vice president
of public affairs, was named vice president of strategic communications
and Diane Blaszka of Flemington, NJ, was promoted to creative
director.
RFB&D serves
more than 137,000 students from kindergarten through graduate
school and beyond with its one-of-a-kind collection of more than
104,000 educational titles on CD or four-track cassette. Students
rely on RFB&D's unique accommodation to access the printed
page and to achieve educational success. All of RFB&D's accessible
titles are recorded by volunteers working in 29 RFB&D recording
studios nationwide.
