RECORDING FOR THE BLIND & DYSLEXIC® PARTICIPATES IN THE
INTERNATIONAL DYSLEXIA ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE
November 6, 2004 (Princeton, NJ) - Recording for the Blind
& Dyslexic (RFB&D®) joined hundreds of exhibitors,
schools, universities and speakers at the 55th annual conference
of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) at the Philadelphia
Convention Center from November 3-6, 2004.
The conference featured several presentations by RFB&D, including
RFB&D's Learning Through Listening®: Digital Technology
Provides Tools for Success for Students with Dyslexia. Also
on the agenda were national and international speakers; the latest
in medical and educational research; new technologies, products
and software; and sessions on topics such as social issues, multisensory
teaching approaches and advocacy.
RFB&D volunteers have recorded Annals of Dyslexia,
IDA's scholarly journal of current research and selected proceedings
from talks given at each IDA international conference. The interdisciplinary
journal was added to the collection of RFB&D's AudioPlus®
books on CD. To date, close to 17,000 digitally recorded textbooks
have become part of the RFB&D library.
"RFB&D's ongoing partnership with IDA has allowed both
organizations to not only better serve people with dyslexia, but
develop innovative programs and products that provide our members
with equal access to the printed word and other services,"
said RFB&D President & CEO John Kelly.
RFB&D, a nonprofit organization based in Princeton, NJ, serves
more than 137,000 members of all ages with a one-of-a-kind library
of 100,000 recorded textbooks and other educational materials
on CD and four-track cassette. Students with dyslexia or other
disabilities that make reading challenging or impossible rely
on RFB&D's unique accommodation to access the printed page
and to achieve educational success. All of RFB&D's accessible
titles are recorded by volunteers working in 28 RFB&D recording
studios nationwide, including Princeton, NJ, and Philadelphia,
PA.
