October 19, 2004 (Princeton, NJ) The strategic
communications staff of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic
(RFB&D®) has garnered a top award for outstanding work
to promote the organization and its message.
The department earned the coveted gold Jasper Award from the
Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association (JSPRAA)
for RFB&D's external newsletter, RFB&D Impact.
The newsletter was entered into JSPRAA's 30th annual competition
and judged based on overall creative approach, design, copy and
overall effectiveness of message.
"The Jasper Awards are very competitive, and we're pleased
to be honored for RFB&D Impact," says Diane Blaszka,
RFB&D's creative director. "It's our premier vehicle
for spotlighting RFB&D news, accomplishments and success stories,
of which there are many!"
RFB&D accepted the award on October 8 during the JSPRAA dinner
at the Robert B. Meyner Reception Center at the PNC Arts Center
in Holmdel, NJ.
Founded in 1974, the Jasper Awards honor excellence in New Jersey's
public relations, marketing, advertising, design and communications
industry. Each year, hundreds of professionals from throughout
the state vie for the awards, making the Jasper Awards the largest
program in the area.
Earlier this year, RFB&D's communications team earned an
APEX award from Communications Concepts, Inc., an award of distinction
from Communicator Awards, an honors award from the League of American
Communications Professionals (LACP), and an honorable mention
from the New Jersey Chapter of the Public Relations Society of
America (PRSA/NJ) for its annual report and various other publications.
RFB&D, a nonprofit organization, serves more than 137,000
students of all ages with a one-of-a-kind library of 100,000 recorded
textbooks. Students with disabilities that make reading text challenging
or impossible rely on RFB&D's unique accommodation to access
the printed page and to achieve educational success.
All of RFB&D's accessible titles are recorded by volunteers
working in 28 RFB&D recording studios nationwide.
