RECEIVES AWARD OF EXCELLENCE FOR FUNDRAISING AND PUBLIC AWARENESS
VIDEO
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 15, 2006 (Princeton,
NJ) - Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D®)
has been honored with a 2006 Award of Excellence in The Videographer
Awards annual competition for its highly successful fundraising
video, Building Confidence
Building Lives. RFB&D
is the nation's educational library of recorded textbooks for
students with visual impairment, learning disabilities or other
physical disabilities that make reading standard textbooks difficult
or impossible.
The Award of Excellence was awarded to projects
that were written, produced, shot and edited in an exceptional
manner. There were more than 2,300 entries from the United States
and several foreign countries, and of those, RFB&D's video
was judged to be among the best submitted.
"The production of this video was a rewarding
and emotional experience for all involved," says Noreen Braman,
RFB&D Multimedia Design Editor. "There has been an overwhelmingly
positive reaction from both within the organization and from the
viewers who have been moved by the story's powerful message. Building
Confidence
Building Lives has been a major boost to
fundraising and public awareness of RFB&D and our goal of
reaching one million students with print disabilities who could
benefit from RFB&D's services."
The Building Confidence
Building Lives
video features the dramatic and emotional success stories of three
RFB&D members: Nick Esposito, Tracy Johnson and Cooper Alexander.
In addition to telling the story of how each of these outstanding
young people has coped with print disabilities, the video shows
their respective transformations from struggle to success after
being introduced to RFB&D and audio textbooks. The 11-minute
video has been shown at several RFB&D events, where donors
have pledged more than $800,000.
RFB&D serves more than 141,000 students from
kindergarten through graduate school and beyond with its one-of-a-kind
collection of more than 109,000 educational titles. RFB&D's
AudioPlus® digitally recorded textbooks on CD provide unprecedented
navigation, ease of use and proven effectiveness as learning tools
for students with print disabilities. Students rely on RFB&D's
unique accommodation to access the printed page and to achieve
educational success. All of RFB&D's accessible titles are
recorded by volunteers working in 29 RFB&D recording studios
nationwide.
The Videographer Awards is an international awards
organization that helps set the standards for the video production
industry. Winners come from video production companies, independent
