James Puzio

James Puzio

James Puzio is a nine year old boy who loves to read Ranger Rick Magazine as much as he enjoys playing soccer and baseball. Yet, reading printed words is not an effortless hobby for him. As with many children with dyslexia, James finds that reading print can be exhausting and frustrating.

Last summer, the Puzios joined Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic® (RFB&D®) in order to help James stay immersed in the world of reading over his summer break. They immediately noticed that recorded materials built up his confidence and improved his comfort level in reading. It also aided James in his ability to review material that had been previously taught to him.

Mary Beth Puzio, James’s mother is thankful for the services of RFB&D. “As James gets older and the school workload becomes increasingly demanding, RFB&D will become that much more critical for James.” She adds, “The people that I”ve met at the NJ Unit of RFB&D are incredible. It is amazing to see the dedication that the volunteers and readers bring into their work.”

What James likes most about RFB&D is that he can read along without getting tired. As James puts it, “I now like to read and the tapes help me to understand more — reading is now fun!”

James is in his second year at The Cambridge School and uses RFB&D services both at school and home. With the help of these resources, it seems clear that he will not only succeed academically, but enjoy a lifetime love of reading.
