Kyle Glozier, a 14-year-old from Freeport, PA is no stranger to the world of legislation and politics. Along with his parents, family and friends, Kyle, who has cerebral palsy, is an outspoken advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and he appeared at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles to deliver his message. He has traveled all over the US as well as to Iceland in support of the rights of persons with disabilities. He especially supports passing of MiCASSA, the Medicaid Community Services and Support Act. This bill would provide Medicaid coverage and services for persons with disabilities in their own homes, instead of nursing homes.

 A photograph of Nancy Stevens

Nancy Stevens, a 1996 winter paralympian, continues her pursuit of athletic excellence. On September 5, 2000, she began a 3,883 mile cross-country bike trip with other role models selected for Girls on the Move, a special project of Outward Bound. Together with 19 other "core" riders, those who are biking the entire distance, and 45 riders each biking a third of the way, Nancy stopped at cities and towns along the route and provided "workshops to girls on self esteem, celebrating girls' accomplishments, educating them on the importance of getting involved in physical activities and inspiring them to believe in their dreams." Nancy, who is blind, rides a tandem bike with specially trained "captains." In order to prepare for the trek, she logged over 3,000 training miles and honed her knowledge of bicycle mechanics. A native of Denver, CO, Nancy has had a lifelong love of sports. She was one of the first blind racers to participate in the Winter Park Competition and, in 1998, she participated at the Nagano Paralympic Games as part of the Disabled Cross-Country Ski Team. Nancy also works with Ski for Light, a "program of cross-country skiing benefiting blind, visually-impaired, and mobility-impaired individuals and their guides." She recently released a CD, "And I'll Sing Every Day of My Life," the proceeds of which help defray the cost of her bicycle trip as well as benefit Outward Bound Programs for women and girls.
