Determining
Which Version of DirectX
Your PC is Using
If you are not
sure which version of DirectX your PC is using, follow these steps:
Step 1: From
the START menu, select RUN.
Step 2: In the
Open field, enter DXDIAG.
Step 3: Click
the OK button.
Step 4: A window
with several tabs across the top will open. Select the SYSTEM
tab (the first tab on the list).
Step 5: This
tab will contain a field entitled "DirectX Version."
If your version is DirectX 7.0 (4.07.00.0700), you are running
the proper version of DirectX for TPB Reader and the variable
speed function will work.
If you are running
an earlier version of DirectX, you can upgrade to DirectX 7.0
from the TPB Reader disc.
Ifyou are running
a later version of DirectX (8.0 or higher), please note that the
variable speed function will not be operational. It is not possible
to "downgrade" from a higher version to a lower version.
Registering
RFB&D Software Products
The following
are the steps required for registering RFB&D software. If
at any time you need help or have questions please contact Member
Services at 800-221-4792 and an RFB&D member services
representative will be happy to provide assistance.
Software Registration Steps
Step 1: Install
the software you purchased from RFB&D on your computer.
Step 2: If you
require a screen reader, please turn it on prior to running the
software.
Step 3: The
first time you run the software program a dialog box called "Key
Expired" will appear on the screen asking you to register
this software with RFB&D.

As stated
in the dialog box, you will need to
obtain a unique registration
code from RFB&D. To do this, you must either visit the registration
page of the web site or contact Member Services at 800-221-4792.
Make sure you write down the registration code as it will be entered
into a dialog box in Step 4.
To exit
the dialog box, either click
on OK or tab to OK and press the ENTER key.
Step 4: Another
dialog box called "Enter Key" will appear on
your screen displaying your "Hardware Fingerprint"
and ask you to input your "Name" and "Key".
The "Key" is the registration code you obtained in Step
3. Enter your Membership ID Number under "Name"
and the registration code from Step 3 under "Key." Click
OK or Tab to OK and press the ENTER key.
If the information
is entered properly another dialog box called "Key Valid"will
appear on your screen informing you that you have successfully
completed the registration process and can now use the software.

Please note
that the "Enter Key" Dialog Box will give you a "Hardware
fingerprint" number. Please write down this number as you
will need it to complete the registration process.
The following definitions of the terms
listed in Step 4 may help you understand what you are being asked
to enter:
Hardware Fingerprint:
The hardware fingerprint is unique to each computer and is automatically
generated by the computer. You need to remember this number exactly
as displayed to you in order to complete the software registration
process. Please either cut and paste it using the mouse in a word
document or by carefully recording it in a word document using
your screen reader.
Name: For name,
please enter your Membership ID Number. If you are a school and
do not remember your Institutional Membership ID Number, please
contact your unit representative or member services. If you do
not remember your Membership ID Number and are an Individual member,
please contact Member Services at 800-221-4792.
Key: This is
the same as the registration code referred to in the first dialog
box called "Key Expired" which appeared the first
time you ran the software program. How to obtain this Key is explained
in Step 5.
