Message from the Regional Executive Director: Recently, I had the honor of traveling to Washington DC to participate in our 50th Annual National Achievement Awards presentation. Monty Anderson, a graduate student from Hawaii, was one of six members who were honored. Undeterred by blindness and with the help of RFB&D, Monty is now a high achiever in law school and his doctorate program. Listening to the stories of the student winners with a view of the Capitol as the backdrop, I was struck by the juxtaposition of our nation’s symbol of freedom and independence and the freedom and independence that RFB&D’s services have provided to students. Monty told me that RFB&D has been “such a pivotal force” in his life. It has not only enhanced his academic ability, but life in general. For members like Monty, I hope that you will join me in supporting RFB&D in 2010! - Cindy Jackson
